Background

The International Relations and Partnership Directorate (IRPD) at Bonga University (BU) is a recently established under the president office of BU since September 2024, despite the university's long-standing experience in international relations and partnerships. This directorate is fundamentally tasked with the initiation and management of comprehensive partnerships and collaborative efforts across the university, engaging with both national and international academic institutions, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations. Moreover, the IRPD pays a key role in communicating and promoting the university's goals and objectives concerning internationalization.  This is achieved through a multifaceted communication strategy that employs various channels, including electronic and print media, scholarly publications, websites, imaging techniques, and audiovisual services successes. The IRPD has branches with special attention to  academic affairs and collaborative project affairs.

The International Relations and Partnership for Academic Affairs (IRPAA) is essential in enhancing and broadening the university's global reach. The IRPAA promotes international collaborations, raises academic standards, and incorporates global perspectives into the academic framework. By facilitating global networking, student and staff mobility, and collaborative research, the Academic Affairs enhances institutional capacity, boosts research output, and encourages intercultural exchange. It fosters domestic and international partnerships, designs collaborative projects, and connects with global and local entities to enhance education, research, community impact, and generate revenue.

The International Relations and Partnerships for Project Affairs (IRPPA) marks a significant step towards fostering collaborative international and local project used to enhance educational initiatives and enhancing global academic networks. As a vibrant institution in Ethiopia, Bonga University is dedicated to creating a seamless bridge with a diverse array of local and international universities, government administrations, and various stakeholders. IRPPA aims to facilitate strategic partnerships that not only promote academic exchange but also cultivate mutual understanding and cooperation. By engaging with international institutions, Bonga University seeks to enhance its academic programs, provide its students and staff with invaluable global exposure, and share its unique cultural and educational perspectives. Through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and collaborative projects, IRPPA will enable Bonga University to flourish alongside its partners. This initiative is designed to enrich the educational experience of students and staffs, connecting diverse resources and expertise to tackle global challenges and adoptive innovation in teaching and research.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Directorate

-  Planning, coordinating, and establishing university partnerships and collaborations

-  Managing international student and staff exchange programs at BU.

-  Inviting international scholars and professors to collaborate with BU

-  Collaborating on Joint Research Initiatives

-  Negotiating and Managing Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs)

-  Overseeing and assessing the execution of the MOUs

-  Promoting Global Educational Initiatives

-  Supporting the recruitment and admission processes for international students.

-  Coordinating Study Abroad Programs

-  Supporting International Faculty and Visiting Scholars

-  Facilitating Cross-Cultural Training and Workshops

-  Joint program launching and project development
